The George Peabody Library
Description
The George Peabody Library, housed in the world-renown Peabody Institute of Music, is part of the Sheridan Libraries at the Johns Hopkins University. In addition to its use as a research library, the George Peabody Library has now become the premiere wedding and event venue in Baltimore.
Reading Room
Consistently ranked one of the most beautiful libraries in the world, the George Peabody Library provides a truly breathtaking setting for weddings and celebrations of all kinds. Six tiers of stately cast-iron columns and ornate railings embellished with gold leaf encircle the Reading Room, creating an ambiance that is both enchanting and scholarly.
Filled with over 300,000 volumes of books, the Library creates a stunning backdrop for ceremonies and receptions, and provides a timeless and storied setting for your personal memories.
Weddings can be booked Friday – Sunday. Friday and Saturday events may start at or after 5pm. Events must end by midnight on all days.
Exhibit Gallery
The adjoining Exhibit Gallery offers a distinctive environment for cocktails and hors d’oeuvres. The space also features rotating exhibitions throughout the year created by Johns Hopkins University curators. The Exhibit Gallery serves as a gathering space for guests before the ceremony and during the cocktail hour. It remains open throughout the evening for those who want a quiet moment with friends and family or a break from dancing in the Reading Room
